XLR8 Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Maybe DCS could do a modules that has a universal cockpit of sorts .So the people that model could add other planes.Maybe for movies or just as flyables.
Weta43 Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Would sort of defeat the whole 'Let's pitch the DSC series as a high fidelity flight sim' idea though wouldn't it ? Can't say I think it's a good idea for the DCS series - it was a marginal idea for LO as far as credibility as a 'SIM' went & would seriously undermine the DCS line's claim to fame. Cheers.
Eagle Driver Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I think it is a good idea for use in movie making. Let's admit it, with only the Ka-50 as flyable, that puts movie makers at the mercy of the AI. Improved as they may be, there's no way they can be molded to the whim of expert directors (cough cough glowing_amraam cough cough) as well as a botched flyable. This would not be something as an excuse to simulate actual operations of those aircraft. I don't think any fool really thought they were being accurate flying a Tomcat with a blue cockpit, or an F-5 that could reach 200,000ft. Creating such options to monkey around with wouldn't diminish the merits of the fine work being put into the Ka-50, but might provide one night's worth of "AceCombat" style entertainment before one gets onto serious business. Seriously, if we've already got an arcade mode, it's already a little late to call DCS a "purebred" hardcore-only sim. Maybe this would be something available for download, certainly it would be foolish to market it as a feature of the game. Weta43 Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I agree it would be a handy thing for movie making, but I think you hit the nail n the head when you said - certainly it would be foolish to market it as a feature of the game. And I think that unfortunate & petty as it would be, having this option would allow knockers (think F4 fanbois et al, not breasts) to 'market' this feature all over the internet. Maybe the capability could be buried away in the legacy code & a little whisper from the right source to the right ear followed by a little cut & paste edit from FC to a BS file would miraculously allow users to 'revive' the feature ... (like bringing the Moscow & F-111 back to FC :-) << Oops - just looked at my little green light & realised I'm not really here ! Cheers.
159th_Viper Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 The Apache is capable of being "Flyable" at this stage as seen in the Vid "Action Point". Stands to reason that a plan of sorts might be found to tinker around with other "flyables" in the loosest sense of the word, although in a predominant Helo environment I would struggle to picture where it would fit, if at all, with a multitude of Airframes wizzing about........ Presumably as BS is still using a lot of code from LO it wouldn't be impossible to implement a generic copter pit ... I guess we'll see soon enough (actually not soon enough unless the release is happening right now as I type) Cheers.
159th_Viper Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 .......someone swapped the model for the Ka-50 with that of the Apache for a few shots ... Indeed was a Model Swap - that is what I meant although admittedly was a wee bit vague :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career?
