[RESOLVED]Using autoexec.cfg causes troubles

Hi!

 

If I create an autoexec.cfg in the CONFIG folder of my user profile, e.g. with entries like

disable_write_track = true

and/or

 no_device_hotplug = true 

DCS is behaving differently; e.g. If I start a mission the screen with the BRIEFING screen (the one with the "FLY" button) doesn't appear anymore. Are there any other effects using an autoexec.cfg which I (we) should be aware of?

I would be surprised if the autoexec has any bearing on it.

 

Please attach your dcs log after you experience problems, it may give us some clues

the log says:

2020-02-26 12:22:39.601 ERROR   Lua::Config: load error Config/main.cfg:[string "C:\Users\pilot\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config/autoexec.cfg"]:1: unexpected symbol near 'ï'. 

 

The autoexec.cfg contains:

disable_write_track = true
no_device_hotplug = true

 

Codepage failure? Currently it is UFT-8 BOM, but I will try a change to UFT-8 ... will report back.

I got it sorted out, UTF-8 is working, UTF-8 DOM was not working. Don't know when the file got its UTF-8 BOM coding ...
