Hello out there. Just another post from a middle-aged noob to DCS. I've recently built a PC after years of gaming on consoles, so right now I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. Perhaps starting off with DCS as my first foray into PC gaming wasn't the most sensible idea:huh:, but the lure of this game allied to VR was too much to resist:D

I'm currently trying to make my disparate HOTAS elements work together without crashing the game, then trying to bind as many controls and actions to the HOTAS as I'm playing in VR. Maybe in a week or two I'll actually be able to play:doh:

Anyway, enough waffling from me. With a little luck, there will soon be another green newbie ready to be shot down in the virtual sky by you guys. See you up there (hopefully)

Welcome!

I second what fatboy said. Make sure you take advantage of the great sales that are on at this moment, they are really good deals and it might be a while before the next sale is. If you have any troubles make sure to just pop your question in this thread or somewhere else, there are plenty of people willing to help. It will be a hell of a ride :)

Welcome to the forum, i felt the same way when i started. i learned a lot from YouTube, and having a laptop next to my pc while doing the same mission, and following what the experience pilot did - expand your time frame to a few months :)

Thanks for the welcome chaps.

I suppose I have jumped in at the deep end as my last flight sims were Birds of Prey and Thunderhawk on the Amiga 500. No matter how steep the learning curve of DCS is, it'll still be easier than the 6fps I used to get on Birds of Prey.:megalol:

I have a whole playlist of Youtube videos and a fistful of bookmarked threads to help me start off but I'm sure I'll be asking daft questions on here, regardless.

And yes, I've fully taken advantage of the sale that's on currently. I am now the proud(if clueless) owner of a Fw 190 A-8, a Bf 109 K-4, the FC3 and Helicopter pack, a Mirage 3000 and Viggen ( love the Delta wings ) and finally the Warthog, Viper and Hornet. I'm also debating pulling the trigger on the Tomcat, as it's such a beast of a thing. :music_whistling:

This should keep me busy until the Mosquito gets released I should think.:smilewink:
