On youtube, Wags said "hit ICP ENTER button on DED Lat/Long Coordinate after turning INS switch in NORM".

Quoted from the F-16 TO manual, "Aligment coordinates should be entered during the first 2 minutes of aliment".

It doesn't mean hitting ICP ENTER button, doesn't it?

Some of people seem to be misunderstood it.

ED, please check it before uploading video.

Ingame of DCS, INS Alignment can be done without hitting ENTER.

If it is bug, fix it.

Thanks.

Yes you need to enter or confirm the coordinates within the first 2 mins of a normal alignment. If you're entering new coordinates you naturally hit ENTR to confirm each line after you've typed them in. If not you just check and confirm each line with ENTR. From my understanding this is correct.

NOTE: this only happens in NORM align, Stored heading align does not require this step.

If you don't enter coordinates within 2 minutes I think the system should continue aligning using last known coords but flag the alignment as degraded, e.g. ready never flashes.

The "two minutes" thing is that if you enter coords after that two minutes the alignment starts over. So you can enter coords 5 minutes after starting but you'll have wasted those three minutes after the initial two.

On my DCS environment, Flashing RDY is occured without hitting ENTER.

and Fully aligned without degrading. INS Alignment Status Nunber is 6.

Same as Wags video.

Is it bug?

my environment, 2.5.6.44266.

P.S.

I have 2 PC. these are same condition. thus, I don't think that it is bug.

According from TO manual, last position shouldn't be used for error.

but it is not because of F-16C system design. for improve of RER, CEP, We should re-enter information of LAT/LONG.

What I want to say is

"Hitting ENTER is not important. Point is using accurate position information. If INS Align, using last position be done witiout Hitting ENTER, no error happens. no error appears on DED INS ALIGN Status Number.”

It took a long time, but I think I finally understand what you are talking about. So, during INS Normal Alignment, if you do not verify the Alt/long the RDY will flash on the DED and the ALIGN will flash in the HUD. AFAIK, the manual does not specify what symbology you will see if you do not verify lat /long during alignment. It only stated the INS alignment will be degraded and significant error will accumulate.

So, in DCS, if you do not verify Lat/Long, you will see there are several problems with the navigation. For example:range to next way point may not be present in the HUD. MIDS may not work properly, etc.

If you do verify Lat/Long during INS alignment, non of this problems will be present. That is why you press enter or re-enter latitude and longitude during INS Normal alignment.

The only bug I see is the altitude, you should have to verify that as well withing the INS page in the DED, right now in open beta ver 2.5.6.44266 the Altimeter sets the altitude in the DED INS page, I need to read more to find the actual bug on that.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.
