ThePutzer Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 It seems that most of my dozen plus missions either crash between 2minutes and 2 hrs.. since last major update, (2.56). or just don't work properly. I had been running the ones w/out any extra scripting. With some success till this latest update.. A TRUTHFUL answer is all I need... I don't want to spend any more time trying to fix them, if they cant be. Do I need to start all over from scratch again?? Shit canning hundreds of hours of work again !! Or not,,, Please the TRUTH.. ThePutzer (Tail end Charlie) ***NewbCity:::MSFlights*** I will send you files if you think it will help,,

I had been running the ones w/out any extra scripting. With some success till this latest update.. I can tell you anecdotally... in our wing of over 50 members, we were having lots of constant complaints about performance issues in our standard training mission, built pre 2.5.6. It also included non-performance issues like the F-16 TGP HUD marker being off from where the TGP was pointing. Tried and tried to fix all the issues to no avail. Recently decided to just build a new training mission from scratch. The jury is still out, it’s only been a day, but so far it seems to be fixing our issues. ThePutzer Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 Please answer the Original Question.. Should missions created before 2.5.6 in Nevada, Persian Gulf & Normandy still Function Properly ??? or do we need to start over ???
MadDog-IC Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Please answer the Original Question.. Should missions created before 2.5.6 in Nevada, Persian Gulf & Normandy still Function Properly ??? or do we need to start over ??? My personal experience is having converted, corrected and then used thousands of those missions from DCS v1.2, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 that I have never had to redo any missions from scratch and I never would anyway, others experiences may vary however. That being said, yes there have been missions that wouldn't work correctly at times no matter the effort put into getting them working, but that was almost always due to multiple bugs introduced in a major software update to the DCS engine that affected all missions under certain circumstances, these varied issues always have to be identified, reported and ultimately corrected by the "Eagle Dymanics coders", the missions then would work as expected. So the answer to your question in my humble opinion is: No you don't have to rebuild the missions from scratch it should work from previous versions of DCS. However some times it does pay to reload the mission in the newest DCS version and resave them, this has fixed issues in the past, but by the same token the newest DCS version may actually have serious flaws that do damage the mission file (Always keep backups of missions) such is the case with DCS v2.5.6, introducing errors from the mission editor, triggers not functioning correctly to name a couple. What you do have do is report any issues, supplying your DCS log, track files for others to evaluate any errors that may give clues to your issues. Regards, Ian.
