Hi all,

I went on a practice run today since I haven't played in a while, I might be doing something wrong but for the life of me I was not able to deploy a GBU-12 on a laser self-designated target.

Problems I encountered:

- With GBU12 selected, it wouldn't let me enter the laser code. (I pressed CODE, then entered it on the pad, and press entered.) The laser code remained XXXX

- GBU12 selected, I was not able to select AUTO mode. I pressed MODE > AUTO and AUTO would remain crossed out in the HUD

- The zoom buttons in FLIR mode don't work.

I followed multiple tutorials, here's a quick rundown of the systems while airborn:

- Master Arm: Armed

- A/G mode set

- FLIR on and locked on area target

- LTD/R: Armed and TRGT was boxed in the FLIR window

82LG:

MFUZ: Off

EFUZ: Instant

Thanks for any tips

Hey grimdar,

Regarding your first code problem, after you pressed the CODE OSB on the screen, you also need to press the round button on the UFC next to code so a ":" appears next to it. Then you can enter the digits and press ENT. Then STEP and ENT again for each of the bombs.

Regarding the AUTO mode, only once you have designated a target, the symbolgy will change on the HUD. You can designate either by the WPDSGN OSB, or use the targeting pod to designate by finding the target in Point Track mode, then using the TDC depress to designate it. The AUTO bombing system needs a point to calculate , to display to you when to pickle.

Hope that helps,

Cheers!

Thanks very much! That helped a lot. It also looks like I wasn't in Point track mode.

Cheers

I don't think Point track is required. You should be able to employ in Area Track. Or even no track at all - it's just not very stable laser spot but shouldn't inhibit release of the weapon.
