Hello,

Does anyone know about the window guns on the Hind?

I have seen two videos and I also found these links:

http://www.faqs.org/docs/air/avhind1.html

http://www.zajc.pl/afganistan.html

and a few pictures posted by Gedis at the Armed Assault forum:

Also, is it true that the Mi-8 can carry two PKBs plus two PRK?

Watch the second video: http://vootatico.com/?p=300

“I see them. I’m not sure if they are civilians or not…”

“There are not supposed to be any civilians here. It’s all supposed to be a rebel area…”

... and the sound of machinegun.

Is that the video of the Hind from Sierra Leone? If it is it was involved in the rescue of some British Soldiers during operation Barras which involved:

3 Chinooks with GPMGs,

3 Lynx

1 Hind

SAS, SBS and Para

You can read more about it here:

Second video's already gone!

Yeah the Mi-24 can mount MGs in it's crew compartment.

Second video is still here http://vootatico.com/?p=300, second video, the first is the Russian one in which they brag how well they've done their UN tasks in Sierra Leone with 4 Mi-24s flying 8900 hours and striking fear and awe among the rebels. Also it brags on how great the soldiers were at volleyball, and how much fun they had with their Ukrainian 'bretheren' (who had both air and motorised divisions), attending their comedians and other extracurricular activities :P
