Sim pit question...

How hard is the pull on the ejection handle behind the stick? I know the travel is 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch but how hard is it to pull? 1kg? Half a kg? A ton? (Lol) does anyone have an idea? I’m intending on using some springs or a limb under tension to simulate the weight and travel of the leaver.

Any numbers would be amazing,

Cheers guys

Lower Ejection Handle.

The lower ejection handle is on the front of the seat bucket

between the occupant’s legs. The sequence for ejection

remains the same, since both the face curtain and the lower

ejection handle initiate seat firing by mechanically

actuating the escape system initiator.

The seat initiator is fired after 2 inches of lower firing

handle travel.

Actuation of the lower ejection handle

requires approximately 20 to 25 pounds

of pull.

The initiation mechanism on the old MB seats is a wedge shaped block connected to face screen and seat pan handles. The spring on the striker is quite strong, you need a special tool to cock it and install the firing mech. The travel is about an inch. Pull the face screen, it comes out with minimal force, then a 25lb pull to start the cycle.

If putting it into a simulation, don’t use 25lbs force. We could on live seats, because, adrenaline.
