Grift-06 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Hi everyone, Since the Windows update (KB4540673) the 10th of March (that I can't uninstall obviously), DCS runs very slowly... In solo it lags, and in multiplayer it's almost unplayble, 15 min to join the server and the game crash for anything (comm., rearm, change aircraft, etc...). Before the update it was not perfect but 300 times better... Does someone have the same issue or can help me please ? PS: Intel Core i5 7th Gen NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 8 GB RAM
Rudel_chw Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 (edited) 8 GB may have been enough 6 months ago, but as time goes on the ram footprint of windows has grown, and the same has happened to DCS ... add 8 more Gb and you will find how much better the performance becomes, as you reduce memory paging to a more normal level. Grift-06 Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 Yeah I guess it's the best way, but I don't really want to throw 100€ and I would like to know why from one day to the next anything works well
Rudel_chw Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Yeah I guess it's the best way, but I don't really want to throw 100€ Wow, I didn’t expect memory to be that expensive on your country .. 8 GB over here is less than us$ 50, and if it is ddr3 it can be purchased 2nd hand for even less. and I would like to know why from one day to the next anything works well well, if you could keep the same Windows version and the same dcs version unchanged, then the performance would be unchanged too. But you cant expect to be upgrading windows, upgrading dcs and not to upgrade the hardware. :smilewink: For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Grift-06 Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 Thanks for your reply, is 12Gb sufficient?
Rudel_chw Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Thanks for your reply, is 12Gb sufficient? For sure it’s better than 8 :) .. but the cost difference between adding 4 or adding 8 GB shouldnt be too much, as with 12 you are still below the recommended specs for DCS: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/stable/ Best regards.
