SebTom Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 details here (Teaser) http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/products/video.html just check the: REVOLUTION The "Expansion" Teaser! :?:
britgliderpilot Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 As yet, Lomac doesn't support moving your head in 3-D. For the sims that do, this will be uber-cool . . . . but not here yet. Pity. We don't really have a need for it in Lomac . . . . no switches we need to hit, and no instruments hidden from view. Although IIRC, some changes were made from the RL F15 seat position to allow better instrument visibility . . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Phil_C6 Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 Hi men We don't really have a need for it in Lomac . . . . Hmm maybe you say this because you don't make Dogfight (guns and IR). Visual is really important in dogfight, flight formations, situation awarness (keep visual on your sector and you wingman on his sector because planes can approch radar off by ex) And it's more natural to use TIR with real 3d So it'll be really interesting to can use this new feature of the TIR. PS: Sorry for my bad english Good evening @+ C6Team

PS: Sorry for my bad english Good evening @+ I do dogfight - but I don't see that this offers any massive advantage over "regular" TrackIR. Most people with TrackIR will have a HOTAS of some kind . . . it's the work of a moment to map a rotary to zoom. The really impressive trick - moving your head in 3D space - just doesn't exist in Lomac. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Phil_C6 Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 If this new feature should be add in Lo you'll could be check 6 by exemple or sometime the hoop of the cockpit make it's impossible to see target (already high aoa) or missile launch if we can move head in translation it coold be great Good evening @+ C6Team
Joe Kurr Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Don't be too quick to say it isn't possible. The video shows footage from CFS3, which doesn't even support mouse-look. Naturalpoint is also working for support in Pacific Fighters, which also doesn't support head movement atm, so let's hope they can make something for lockon as well. Caretaker Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Lock On's cockpit models are not designed to incorporate free head movement. While they are 3D, they are optimized for one view point, so I guess it would look strange in many areas if the view was shifted. The HUD rendering would have to be changed as well. So while it's a very interesting development, I have my doubts that it will be feasible in Lock On. It's not as important as in a WW2 sim either in my opinion, although of course it would be nice to have. Caretaker ED Beta Test Team
