This aircraft does not have TACAN, as it is a russian aircraft while TACAN is a western Navaid. Use a KC-130 instead.

Edit: On this video there is a practice mission set in Nevada:

Trying to setup AAR practice mission but the iL-78M does not appear to have a TACAN setting. How do I locate the tanker or is there a way to set a TACAN for this tanker type?

I added TACAN to il-78M by editing lua files.

go to Scripts\Database\planes

open il-78M.lua with notepad

find "CanopyGeometry = makeAirplaneCanopyGeometry(LOOK_AVERAGE, LOOK_BAD, LOOK_BAD),"

below above line add

TACAN = true,

save and open dcs world.

place il-78M as normal and add TACAN just like you do in KC-135

RedFor use EWR/AWACS to locate tanker.

Dial in your radio for the EWR/AWACS > contact them and ask for vector to tanker.

You can use your radar and/or Datalink to find him once you know vector and altitude. (shouldn't really need to though)

I see this is a common problem for Redfor pilots, but it is quite simple really.
