If it’s different for combat Jets, I’m willing to buy it, but in civilian aircraft, the exterior lights are available with battery power.

In Cessnas and Pipers I’ve flown, the tail beacon is often left in the ON position so that it begins to flash with battery power applied as a visual clue that the plane is about to crank.

Not so in combat jets?

Not in the F-16 and most other fighters as far as I can tell.

Lights are usually tied to the generator, the A-10 has them tied to the APU generator so you can have them on before engine start, kinda like an airliner.

Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s

All F-16 external light are tied to the main power. Hell, many cockpit light and gauges are tied to main power. Engine oil pressure for example does not work until standby generator comes online, so you are suppose to monitor oil pressure on start, if you have no indication by idle, you need to shut down the engine. No main gen power 10 seconds after stand by gen comes online, shut down the engine.

Without main power there are a lot of thing that do not work, this is one of the reasons every day, before flying starts, we hook external power to the jet to check light, check fuel level, oxygen level (on aircraft with liquid oxygen), etc.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

And the fun ones, like Probe heat and heat in the CrewChief-divider. Every FNG on the Line burns himself on those at least once :P

Clustermunitions is just another way of saying that you don't like someone.

I used to like people, then people ruined that for me.
