SWE-Timberwolf Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Hi, Does this setting affect FPS much? And what are the cons of lowering this setting? I do not think it has much affect on FPS. I would not lower it as it makes the displays harder to read. But the simplest way is just to test it. Knock-Knock Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Afaik its the render resolution of the targetpod/maverick/shkval viewports, along with mirror render resolution. So increasing this, or running it each frame vs every other frame will have an effect on fps. But its of course relative to where you look and what you look at, and if you have TPOD+Maverick screens up, along with mirrors on etc. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
Fri13 Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Yes it will lower your FPS, as it will as well affect your mirrors and all. IMHo the setting should be separated (if possible) for various sub-settings. - Mirrors - Targeting Views - System Screens. So one can example make the "System Screens" high resolution so they can read all the radars, SMS, KABRIS etc easily. But then the "Targeting View" is related to the TGP, SHKVAL etc. And then of courses Mirrors are separate too. It would as well be nice this way as the Litening etc are just 640x480 by definition and not 1024, and you would have as well blurring with the FLIR etc so you are not suppose to have high definition view like now. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
ebabil Posted April 16, 2020 Author Posted April 16, 2020 yes it is a good idea. btw I am using 512 and not every frame. Is it good or should I lower it to 256? If I do that what would I miss on tgp or air radar screen?
