sobe Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I am running the latest version of Win10 and want to try to use joystick gremlin. However, to do so, you first have to install Vjoy. No matter what I do, I cannot seem to install Vjoy as an admin or not. The forum for Vjoy has lots of discussions on this issue, but no answers. Has anyone been able to do so? Trackir4 using the latest Trackir 5 software, Win10 Pro [Creator Update] updated from Win7Pro Pro 64Bit, Intel® Core™ i5-2500 3.30 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache LGA115 , GigaByte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 16GB Ram, GTX MSI Gaming 1060 [6 GB] Video Card, Main Monitor 1 on left 1920x1080 Touchscreen Monitor 2 on right 1920x1080 .
Ant0ine Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Please see here, Vjoy had to be updated (outdated signature IIRC), so you need a specific version to be able to run it on Windows patch 1903 and +. https://whitemagic.github.io/JoystickGremlin/quickstart/
sobe Posted April 18, 2020 Author Posted April 18, 2020 Unfortunately I tried that version and it would not complete the installation. That version is almost 1 year old and something must have changed in Win10. Trackir4 using the latest Trackir 5 software, Win10 Pro [Creator Update] updated from Win7Pro Pro 64Bit, Intel® Core™ i5-2500 3.30 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache LGA115 , GigaByte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 16GB Ram, GTX MSI Gaming 1060 [6 GB] Video Card, Main Monitor 1 on left 1920x1080 Touchscreen Monitor 2 on right 1920x1080 .
Ant0ine Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 it would not complete the installation. IIRC for me the installation windows would be "stuck" at 100% but not succes message or next or finish button.. I closed the windows, rebooted PC and it worked. Same installation "issue" on previous version of Vjoy btw.
sobe Posted April 18, 2020 Author Posted April 18, 2020 How do you test if Vjoy is working after you reboot? Trackir4 using the latest Trackir 5 software, Win10 Pro [Creator Update] updated from Win7Pro Pro 64Bit, Intel® Core™ i5-2500 3.30 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache LGA115 , GigaByte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 16GB Ram, GTX MSI Gaming 1060 [6 GB] Video Card, Main Monitor 1 on left 1920x1080 Touchscreen Monitor 2 on right 1920x1080 .
Ant0ine Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 How do you test if Vjoy is working after you reboot? In the windows start menu there should be a Vjoy folder with the Vjoy application : C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\vJoy Or go directly in the installation folder and try to run VjoyConfig.exe. Then setup a Vjoy, once done you should be able to run Gremlin and assign stuff to the Vjoy.
sobe Posted April 18, 2020 Author Posted April 18, 2020 Yesterday I tried to install vjoy, but after I rebooted, I tried the monitor program in Vjoy and got no response so I never tried JG. sobe Posted April 18, 2020 Author Posted April 18, 2020 Ant0ine success at last. I did a simple H command and the hook came down in the jet. Yeah. If I only want to bind some buttons on some sticks with JG, how do I exclude all the other buttons that I have bound in the game, in particular, the axis commands? Ant0ine Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 (edited) Ant0ine success at last. I did a simple H command and the hook came down in the jet. Yeah. If I only want to bind some buttons on some sticks with JG, how do I exclude all the other buttons that I have bound in the game, in particular, the axis commands? You have nothing to do normally. As if the only thing you do in Gremlin is remap one of two button, then that is the only thing Gremlin will do. Unlike with Thrustmaster Target. In DCS you could "clear" the Vjoy category as it is mapped by default, but it shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't remap your physical axis to Vjoy axis in Gremlin. Edit : For exemple, let's say you have the Thrustmaster Warthog throttle which have On-Off toggle switch. We all know that those switch doesn't send any signal when we flip them down (Off position). So in game we will for exemple map the Up (On position) of the Warthog throttle switch to the Hook Up command. And to get the down position to work, using Gremlin we could Remap the hook down command on the Warthog throttle switch up position using a macro that would for exemple send the "h" key, or better, send a Vjoy button that you then map in game to the Hook down command. BUT!, we also have to set a condition so that this macro will run when we RELEASE that virtual button, in other word, when we'll flip the switch down, when we'll release the On position. I'll edit with Screenshot as soon as I get finish the update download. Edit : Here we go. When I flip my Warthog switch down it send a pulse of the Vjoy button 1, that I map to arresting hook down. Using dedicated Hook up and down command I'm sure my physical switch will never desync with the virtual switch in the game. Up will always be up and down always down. https://imgur.com/a/T7y4gwx Edited April 20, 2020 by Ant0ine
=Panther= Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 If you are comfortable with your BIOS you can install vJoy. Secure Boot in BIOS is stopping the install of vJoy with Win 10. Once I disabled secure boot, vJoy installed with no issues. PS I see there is a new version that should install without needing to do the secure boot thing. I had the issue prior to this newer version.
