The guys I fly with on MP when they IFF interrogate they get green for friendly and red for bandit.

Me I just get green for friendly and it stays white for a bandit.

Any thoughts?

That is correct. If no data link, an IFF would show a green icon for a friendly return or nothing for no friendly return

Thanks

IFF mode 4 uses a reply system that works like this: You send out a mode 4 question, if the planes reciving the question knows the correct answer they will reply with that, and then appear green to you. If they don't know the correct answer the won't give a reply and therefor won't show up as anything on the FCR page. There is therfor no way to show up as hostile by using mode 4 IFF.

Yes, this is true for mode for mode 4. There is also Mode 1/2/3 which will reply to whether it has the correct answer or not and will appear on the FCR as a yellow box. This is why mode 1/2/3 is always disabled when nearing hostile airspace. Can be good to know when it gets implemented in the future.

Also, in regards to OP's question, currently in the DCS F-16 the only way to get red HAFU's is if you recieve a hostile contact via link from AWACS or something similar.

-Col. Russ Everts opinion on surface-to-air missiles: "It makes you feel a little better if it's coming for one of your buddies. However, if it's coming for you, it doesn't make you feel too good, but it does rearrange your priorities."
