DCS Now Will Not Load

I am at my wits end with the amount of issues with DCS. Everyday is like Christmas morning in hell. Something new is always breaking!!!

 

 

As I was trying to troubleshoot issues with VA/Vaicom DCS stopped loading the sound and main menu in the VR lobby. I am just standing next to an aircraft in a hanger with no menu. It also does not boot period into 2D mode, it just hangs. I wasn't doing anything besides turng it on and off while pulling my hair out with VA problems.

 

I have tried repair but it does nothing. What do I do!!!? To avoid losing "Mods" and saves, should I try rolling back? Can someone quickly give me directions on that again? Or what the next best fix would be? without losing mods and whatnot.

 

I literally feel like DCS has been on life-support for the last 3 months and it finally croaked.

 

Mods thank you for putting this in the appropriate area. I just need help asap.

Update

 

I reverted back and it did not work! Please help me get DCS back!

1: I would try deleting the scripts folder in saved games . If that doesn't do it , i would rename the entire saved games/dcs folder .

2: It looks like you have far too many programs open and running . Try to pare those down substantially . DCS is (necessarily) resource-intensive , and the more programs you can remove from the startup , the better .

Step 1a did not work but step 1b deleting saved games brought it back to life. Could you kindly point me to where I can restore my Graphic settings and saved games (whatever I can getaway with without re-corrupt the system)?

 

I tried just copying a few folders to see if I could get off "Easy" and it messes up. Maybe if I copy specific items from the Saved Games OB folder?

 

 

Something odd I am experiencing in the "fresh" version is the cursor seems to stay on (in the menu at least). I don't remember that, its kinda annoying the cursor loitering around on the last click.

Personally , i would be afraid to copy back much more than control bindings . Glad to hear you are making progress...

After a LONG process of elimination,

 

The offending file seems to be the "Options.LUA" Under saved games and config.

 

Copy over to new OB folder. Game Broke.

Undo File move and Game is back in business.

 

Luckily I took screens of settings that I forgot about so it seems everything has come back together. If anyone has same issues, try renaming OBS folder try something like, I dunno "Crap" restart the sim. Again the file that went corrupt was the 1kb "options.LUA"

 

Thanks again, these are stressful times and its good to at least have DCS able to turn on again!
