The missile's behaviour is at its best when fired by a MiG-21. Not too good when fired by any FC3 plane, but still when fired by the L-39 it connects better than the latter.

The bottom line is which is obvious I guess, the R-60M's behaviour should be all the same regardless of what plane fires it. Not sure if other weapons show such discrepancies when fired by different planes, but I'm sure of the issue regarding the R-60M.

 

It's a very old issue and the word going around was always "they're working on it" so I've never bothered to report. Quite possible though this was reported some long time ago.

Not necessary, I guess. I mean put a MiG-21 with R-60M's and an L-39 in the air, go after a target and you'll see the R-60M fired by the MiG-21 is all aspect and pulls incredible G's, while that of the L-39 is limited to rear aspect only and easily defeated. Or a MiG-29 if you want, etc.

No. I fly the MiG-21 and L-39 most of the time. FC3 rarely these days but years ago quite often. So I've fired thousands of R-60M's against all types of threats.

I know how it sounds, but if you get a chance, get track of this, that way everyone can be on the same page, no guessing or assuming

I did start to fly MiG-21Bis just couple day ago, and did manage to get a R-60M shot front hemisphere, but it is not 0 degree but more like a 30 degree of the F/A-18C.

 

So it should be completely valid shot for it.

 

Need to do a test mission where F/A-18C flies straight ahead to check it out.
