EvilBivol-1 Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 After 4 months in hibernation, I've put up some updates to the blog. A lot's happened in this time and I can't possibly catch up with everything at once. Assuming I actually keep working on it, I'll try to refer back to some of the recent events while posting on new ones. To those that followed it, apologies for the long break and thanks for your attention. http://bearrising.blogspot.com/ - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. VMFA117_Poko Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Interesting article: Algeria Refuses MiG-29SMTs Algeria is returning 15 MiG-29SMTs it had purchased from Russia in 2006-2007. The reason given is low production quality of certain aircraft parts. Rosoboronexport (Russian state arms export monopoly) disagrees and sites political reasons. In any case, the Algerian president is currently in Moscow for talks and it appears that Russian-Algerian "cooperation" will continue, but the original contract may be altered, possibly in favor of more Su-30MKI(A)s. Kommersant has an overview of the situation and Russia Today has a news report.New young crew works at MiG factory or at some other firm cooperating with MiG?
Excelsior Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I would say its the Algerian government using it as an excuse to return them and getting a "better" product. Pilotasso Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I dont believe its an algerian political thing. Fact is that Russias factories output aint what it used to be, and the planes delivered right now are refurbished from soviet era airframes, for a design that was never meant to last this long. Im not suprised these planes look so good on the outside but are rotted in the inside. No one likes to have low mission avaiablility for high maintenance and operational costs. I might add algerias is not alone in this. Indonesia, Venezuela, and india are all having trouble with their russian made equipment. .
