Hello,

I have one question:

Is there any difference between using LNS and DT2 in TWS or circle between targets using undesignate button (Without selecting a DT2) in terms of AIM-120 deployment and precission?

So in other words: If I use the undesignate button to circle between targets, will the AIM-120 also get data from the targets for "mid course correction" from the APG 73 radar if the target is not LNS or DT2? Or will the AIM-120 swap to MAD Dog mode when the assignet target is neighter LNS nor DT2 anymore?

No, you don't need to make a DT2. DT2 is just a user interface feature to make it easy to swap L&S between two targets, you don't need to use it. Making a trackfile no longer L&S also should not affect the datalink guidance itself.

I think this needs some clarification from ED, as despite what Jak is saying might be true, it isn't as intuitive one may think. How does the MC know if it has to keep datalink between a missile and a specific target, and how does it decide when to stop? I hope others feel similar so we can maybe have a better explanation from ED as to how exactly operate the TWS mode. Wags video lacks a lot of detail IMHO.

The MC keeps track of which tracks have 120s in flight towards them, it's nothing to do with the L&S or DT2

Roger, thanks Santi. If the radar loses track of a contact then the 120 goes ballistic until pitbul?

If the radar track is lost before activation the AMRAAM will fly to the predicted pickup point using the most recent data it received, activate its radar, and attempt to acquire the target autonomously.
