Good Day Folks,

I need your thoughts on an idea that I had. My PC:

MSI B450 Tomahawk mobo

AMD Ryzen 5 2600 proc

Corsair Vengeance 16 gig RAM

MSI RX 5700xt MECH OC vid card

Samsung 970 EVO SSD

I did have an nVIDIA 2060 Super vid card that ended up being defective and was heating up. I also noted some lag spikes periodically (I thought they were related). I bought the new card yesterday and played last night. Temps only got to 69-70c, but the lag spikes are still there.

Could this be my DCS or maybe my proc needs upgrading? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Its DCS. You can spend a lot of money upgrading your components to things that are just marginally faster, and you will still get stutters and "lag spikes", especially in populated multi player servers.

I hope your parts are available. Lots of shortages and price hikes, but that could/should change in the next few weeks.

Nothing wrong with the parts in your list. I'd grab a 2700X for myself, but the prices right now are insane.

Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

Are there lag spikes on lowest settings as well?

Are you talking about 2d or VR, single player or multiplayer?

A 3600 would be a nice inexpensive upgrade but probably not solve your lag spikes.

The 5700XT is no improvement over the 2060S.
