i would suggest doing a google search for "russia georgia war timeline". as with anything on the Internet you should be mindful of misinformation and opinion leaning towards any side of the conflict. but fact is when the Soviet Union broke up, Georgia decided to go it on its own. they had a pretty limited air force. when the invasion happened Georgia had little chance. so all the campaigns are based on western assistance.
