Statics removing and couldn't exit

Last night I was making some temp changes to the mission:

I removed a few static S-3s from the bow of the Stennis but when I did select them and use Del key the 3D models disappeared but the icon stayed there. After a few (4?) deleted I could no longer select any object but all the options, tools and icons of ME worked fine. I could not exit the ME by File > Exit nor by the X in the left/bottom corner. I could fly the mission and go back to ME again but still not able to exit from ME. Not wanting to kill the DCS process I used Quit to Desktop option from the running mission which worked fine.

I could not reproduce the no-exit issue however trying again to delete the statics their icons stayed only to disappear after saving the mission.
