subseauk Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 Hi all, just moved from lounge to small office area with desk etc. I finally had the Quest up and running in the lounge but now after moving I cant seem to get it out of the Quest home page and cannot see the VR desktop selector which was there previously that enabled a mirror of the PC desktop ( thus preventing me from starting DCS etc ). The other problem seems to be related to wanting to use the sitting down option rather than the guardian area. As soon as I select the sitting option the screen goes black and I have to shut down and start again!! If I stay on the defined guardian area it picks up the desk etc and is not usable in that!! Is there any way to force the Quest to ignore desks etc in the area or how do you increase the defined area in stationary mode? This is driving me nuts having just gotten it all running, cant go back to the lounge due to orders from her indoors!!! Any help / pointers would be most appreciated. Sporg Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 I use Quest in room mode, I just draw the Guardian area on the floor big enough to include the desk. You need to take care of your hands yourself though, but it works fine here. I start DCS from a shortcut on the desktop, that works fine here. If you want, you can check the guide I made on using Quest Link and DCS, there's also some optimization on picture quality. I'm using same GPU as you, so you should be able to get some improvement like I did. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=276595 System specs: Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440) Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use

I tried doing the draw area mode but it detects the desk !! Another thing I noticed was that it was in the Beta version that I was having all the issues but not when I used the stand alone version, do you think that may be the problem? Thanks for the link to the guide, I will have a look and see what differences if any there is between yours and mine. Are you also using the Warthog HOTAS as well then? Any chance you could review latest versions and show updated instructions as I find it a bit confusing at times! Eldur Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 You could try disabling the Guardian altogether. Need to enable dev mode for that though.
