Shahriar0 Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 After the 2.5.6.50979 Open Beta, I get no illumination when looking out from the cockpit in a pitch dark night while from the outside there is light, but faint and dim (see attached pictures - with no image processing done to them.) In my opinion, the previous landing light illumination was much closer to reality. Hope HB can re-adjust this light. Thanks.

Shahriar0 Posted July 15, 2020 Author Posted July 15, 2020 (edited) So the much anticipated 2.5.6.52196 Open Beta is out. There are a lot of fixes and improvements in it, but sadly the F-14 landing light bug is still present! Would HB offer an explanation as to why they chose not to fix this by reverting the brightness of the light back to the way it was? It should have been the easiest fix with plenty of time to test and calibrate. For comparison, I am attaching landing light shots between F-14, F-5 and MIG-29. Granted the planes are different in size and design and illumination, but there is no way F-14 light is this dim and faint. Thanks. Edited July 15, 2020 by Shahriar0
Shahriar0 Posted July 15, 2020 Author Posted July 15, 2020 Also, I had previously reported that Instrument/Console Brighten Up commands for Pilot/RIO do the reverse and actually Brightens Down the lights!! This bug is also still present. I was under the impression that in this release we would see fixes for all these little bugs that used to work but had gotten broken recently. Apparently I was too optimistic and perhaps naive.

Apparently I was too optimistic and perhaps naive. Who stated that? :) That was the goal of DCS as a whole for this patch - which is different to what we are doing. It's easy to say that small bugs are quick and easy to fix; but inevitably something else gets nuked in the queue (frequently, also small things!). This patch was an interim version of the F-14 that does not include many fixes, unfortunately, but it's simply because the August and September patches are slated to be very major releases. (F-14A, Campaigns, other stuff) That said, I'll move this up the queue and if there's a hotfix, we'll ship it.
