Every Thursday @ 9am an Air Foyle An-124 landed and parked 100 yards away from our hangar. Pilotasso Posted February 22, 2008 Author Posted February 22, 2008 Yep Lybia. It came over to drop off some C-130 Nacelles and respective engines. Its Ironic isnt it? That US hardware came in a russian made aircraft and is all FUBAR'ed for being all the 20 years of embargo out in the open at the desert. Unimaginable work load but we are known to perform miracles. :D .

We use An-124s to fly our Apaches to and from Afghanistan and Iraq, because they're cheaper than USAF C-17s or C-5s. Sometimes an IL-76TD shows up to transport some spares, like this one, registered as ER-IBF. Alfa Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 We(Denmark) used An-124s for flying Leopard 2A5 tanks to Afghanistan - because they were the only ones up for the job I guess :) . JJ
