Clarifying Waypoints etc in single and multiplayer

In single player, you can just create your WP, FP, IP, etc on the F10 map and just go into the plane and use them without "importing" them. However, in multiplayer, you have to tell jester to import the points before you can use them.

 

Is the above correct? I could only find some videos on the above but nothing in writing.

In SP waypoints are taken from the mission. If cold start type - Jester puts them in during INS allignment. Apart from this you can use F10 map and create waypoints that you can then tell Jester to input in - only then they will work.

I'm just entering the "learn how to navigate phase" with the F-14 and I find Jester's menu options somewhat confusing. TACAN is easy and I think I can get to telling Jester to set up either waypoints 1 - 3. This morning in teaching myself how to use the LANTRIN, I was able to do as above, create a waypoint on F10 map, name it "target 1" and find it in Jesters menu (as well as the LANTIN "next waypoint slew" function.

 

But from Jester's Menu, what is "destination" point and the numerous other options? Can someone here direct me to a really good Youtube tutorial, please?

Are you saying that in a hot single player start and in all cases with multiplayer, you have to have Jester to input the coordinates? what is the jester command to input on a hot single player start?

No, in a hot start/air start waypoints are already in the aircraft system as set in a mission. If you want to add new or replace one you need to tell Jester either exact coordinates or use the map, tell Jester to use the one from map and assign the one you want to be replaced.

Well in the hot air start for single player, I am doing something wrong as the coordinates are not in the computer. will try again today. In single player hot start do you have to do anything with Jester importing the WPs etc with the Jester wheel? I thought Spudknocker did something to get them in the game in his video.

Jester starts with WPT1 as default. Attach mission file you have trouble with.

The mission is cold start and MP (I'm confused). If you start proper startup, Jester makes proper INS allignment and after "ready to taxi" he still inputs waypoints for a while. After that all the waypoints are available. I did not use Jester menu during the start up and the default WYPT1 was ready to go at ~330. Your starting heading is ~210 so all the waypoints are on your right.

 

I attached same mission but hot start. You're ready to go and WPT1 already set as default right away.
