Muas Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Hello everyone, I just recently installed the Supercarriers, and I must say I'm astonished by the interactive ground crew animation - simple awesome!! Now my question is, how can we hear the LSO calls, like "you're too high", "you're too low", "call the ball", "wave off", etc.? May I have missed setting the radio frequency? On the new Russian carrier, is there also LSO audio or a working FLOLS lighting system? Thanks!!
squid509 Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 you have to use the AI coms menu talk to the carrier 127.5 by default if the mission maker did not change it the LSO will not talk to you until you "call the ball" see Page 44-56 of the manual you dont need to fly the whole case 1 to get the LSO to talk to you but you do need to talk to the AI ATC and go to all the coms, 'inbound' "see you at 10" then "call the ball" note the last com menu will not pop up by it self you need to have it open and ready when you get close enough about the time the BALL lights come up
Harker Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 You can also bind the ball call to a key, so you don't have to go through the comms menu. Same for the catapult salute. And the Kuznetsov has a working FLOLS, but no LSO. or other, carrier specific comms. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord. This is a very good idea, probably the "Inbound" callout to... And the Kuznetsov has a working FLOLS, but no LSO. or other, carrier specific comms. So how do we get the FLOLS to work? I read in another thread that comms had to be used so the ship gets configured for plane recovery, by laying down the guardrail and removal of the flag pole at the stern... I will check if frequencies can be assigned to this ship in the mission editor, and try it out... Anyway, thanks very much for the answer.

Inbound is not available as a keybind, you have to go through the comms menu, but that's OK, since you're 50 NM from the carrier and have plenty of time to set things up. The keybind for ball call there exactly because you shouldn't have to fumble with the comms menu during your final turn. For the Kuznetsov, the FLOLS is always working, just fly behind the ship and you'll see it. As for lowering the guard rails and flag pole, I assume they're lowered when you first declare Inbound or Request Landing. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. No animated crews alright, but if you populate it with parked aircraft it will get a pretty decent carrier ops feel for the Red side. Edited July 21, 2020 by Muas

I was trying out SC for the first time yesterday. I made the inbound call and see you at 10 call. But never made any ball calls. Totally forgot about that:doh:. However, I did occasionally get some LSO comm on some passes like: "Power! Come right for line up, you're a little low"...... But not on every pass. I assume that the LSO talks only by exception if you're off parameters and not correcting, right? Muas Posted July 23, 2020 Author Posted July 23, 2020 with you hook , gear and flaps down you should get a pop up when coming in for final True, I did get to see the popup when approaching on the F-18 to the US Carriers but I didn't see it when approaching on the Su-33 to the Russian Kutz. I believe the popup FLOLS is a feature of the Supercarriers Module (not the aircraft) but I'm not sure if it is modeled for all carriers including the Kutz, or maybe I might not have done the comms correctly...
