cyrusyn Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Going through the feature list, I was impressed by the complex degree of the simulation ED is trying to bring to the public. What do you think if I say ED trying to make its way into the military market with Lock On series deriviated simulations? There is no such movements already known to the public however I can't help thinking that such features like the non-linear fuel consumption or the gas turbine simulation suits more to the need of the professional pilots than average gamers. With limited time and fundings, I think ED could already have brought to the market the much missed dynamic campagnes and other features that could be more popular among the gamers than pro-pilots but seems like they have spent ages on much less spotlighted features. I am not saying that ED made a mistake or tormenting the lack of the dynamic campagne in the current LOMAC. I welcome ED's devotion to the making of the ultimate simulation. Just wondering if ED had a hidden agenda...
EricJ Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Well, it could be a hidden agenda, but to me it seems they just like quality, and there's nothing wrong with that. The only problem is, that most people are used to "survey sims" and in-depth detail (a la F4), so in some cases people just don't like it. It however, has a potential to be a training tool, but let's just say that most gov computers couldn't handle LOMAC. skyshadow_raven Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 I think that the LOMAC code should be optimized further to allow average machines to run at least 30 fps over cities and during massive dogfights before it can be a military product. Don't get me wrong, I love LOMAC. "I knew a guy who gave up once....he died."
GGTharos Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Military products don't run on 'average computers' AFAIK, unless it's something like VBS. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
skyshadow_raven Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 You are right...unless they want to save up and use average computers.. "I knew a guy who gave up once....he died."
GGTharos Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 ... and limit what they can simulate, yes. It's not that simple. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
EricJ Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Hmmmmmmmm.... And that means....? BTW man, how are things going? Stormin Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 Hmmmmmmmm.... And that means....? BTW man, how are things going? It means that it is something that is being considered. I'm doing great. How about you? Back from the sandbox yet? If so, welcome back. If not, do you need another CARE package sent? Cheers, Carl

Actually no, I'm not back yet, and considering staying another year here. Crazy? maybe, but I think I can stay in the fight one more year...
