Vekkinho Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Especially different on this #69 airframe with gunship grey radome. If you compare this camo with latter Su-33 you'll see a lot of difference: Yes SKF it's completely mine and it's actually Academy's Su-27 Flanker B. But I got a SOL Su-33 conversion set No. 3066 with resins, decals and cockpit details included. It's a gift from a friend of mine, who bought it in Toronto Canada few years ago. I managed to complete it pretty fast, it took me cca 3 weeks to assemble it, mix all the paints and spraypaint the bird. I bought like 15 different paints, but no stock paint matched reference photos I had from a book called Encyclopedia of World Military Aircraft by Aerospace. So I had to mix paints to get what U see. I hope I got it right! I wasn't very satisfied with the kit, parts fit perfect but some details like EOS ball is too small, pitot tube too short and such mistakes can be found! I also had to reposition EOS because it was originally fitted centerline in front of the canopy (Su-27) and we all know Su-33 got it offset to the right. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 ^^^^^^^^ But that's not the model I'm most satisfied with, I like this CroAF MiG-21bis #121 that's also in 1:48. This bird IRL is flown by a good friend of mine Ltn. Ivan Lukan: 3 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RedTiger Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Very nice!!! Model making is a near-lost art these days, so its good to see someone whos good at it. The last picture there from the rear looks nearly like the real thing thanks to the detail on the nozzle. BTW, that beautiful picture of the #60 Su-33 should be used as the standard for skinnrs wanting to make an accurate Flanker color!
Vekkinho Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 ...and this is how #121 looks like during engine inspection: You'll see that grey paint (FS 26152)in front of the nose already started changing it's gloss so you have a feeling that it's a different color code. Funny and strange , but it's actually turning darker with time. Edit: my model might seem lighter in color than real plane but that's because photos I took are shot exterior in 2 PM last July. It was a hot summer! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
