Noluck Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 (edited) [edit/update] : turned on the HMD and it looks fine. This has been an on-going problem for quite a while. FYI, I have 3 each 1920x1080 HD monitors in my setup. My normal setting is using '1 screen' monitor option and setting the resolution to 5520x1080. Full screen option is NOT checked. The HUD looks fine and readable when using the standard '1screen' monitor option along with setting to a single monitors 1920x1080 resolution. When the '1screen' along with changing the monitor resolution to 5520x1080 to display on all three monitors, the HUD becomes thick and blurry and is difficult to read. DDI's/MPCD do not appear affected. Turning HUD brightness down helps a little, but it's still 'thick and blurry'. Attached are 3 images. One showing 1920x1080 and the other two 5520x1080, one full width and one cropped. --- Edited July 29, 2020 by Noluck Checked HMD : looks fine PC: Windows 10 Pro X64, AMD FX8120 8 Core @ ~4.0GHz, 32GB DDR3-1600, GTX 1080 8Gb, 1 TB EVO 860 SSD | Displays: 3 Dell HD 1920x1080 @ 5520x1080 windowed ||| Hardware : TM Warthog HOTAS Stick+Throttle | 3x TM Cougar MFD's | WW Combat Panel | WW Landing Panel ||| Mods: F/A-18C | F-16 | P51-D | UH-1H | C130-J | NTTR | Persian Gulf | Syria | Channel | Normandy | WWII Assets | Super Carrier | Combined Arms

Trubshaw Posted July 29, 2020 Posted July 29, 2020 I also have 3 monitors and use NVidia surround to merge them into one screen. Is that what you use? It may be an aspect ratio issue, as I have not noticed this effect. Next time I boot it up I will look at what my aspect ratio is. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] TrubshawRN -=SHREK 94=-
Noluck Posted July 29, 2020 Author Posted July 29, 2020 (edited) I also have 3 monitors and use NVidia surround to merge them into one screen. Is that what you use? It may be an aspect ratio issue, as I have not noticed this effect. Next time I boot it up I will look at what my aspect ratio is. First, I'm still only 6 months into DCS. F/A-18C is my only aircraft I fly, for now anyway. And yes, this issue has been since day 1. I have a very limited old PC, you can see my system spec's in the signature. However I get 40-60FPS in NTTR, have it capped at 40FPS in autoexec.cfg. That should not be an issue. Current DCS version here: 1.2.6.52437 release My middle 1920x1080 monitor died recently, so I'm using a 1680x1050 for the center display. NVidia surround will not work for me, I assume due to the center monitor not being the same resolution as the outer 2? It will only let me select 2 of the three monitors, not all of them. 1 Screen option @ 5520x1080 setting along with default calculated aspect ratio which is correct, and no full screen checked. Get the thick and fuzzy HUD. 1 Screen option @ 1920x1080 (1 display) HUD looks normal. Funny, looks like the DDI's MPCD are not affected. Yes, I have all the 'DDI/HUD fix' mods and have tried them all. Use OvGME to turn them off and on. Problem is those mods also make the DDI's too 'thin' while making the HUD more readable. These mod's have been around for quite a while. I won't mention the fact that the DDI readability issues as of the past few updates has been real aggravating. Thing is, look at early release images and the ED video's... all the displays looked great. What changed (broke what was working) since then and why, it's beyond me. All the complaints about the DDI's and HUD, well it's not fixed yet. Seems like a simple task to accomplish, updates should not affect something as basic as the aircraft's displays and instruments to worsen over time. Makes no sense. I hope ED can fix it, once and for all. -- Edited July 29, 2020 by Noluck PC: Windows 10 Pro X64, AMD FX8120 8 Core @ ~4.0GHz, 32GB DDR3-1600, GTX 1080 8Gb, 1 TB EVO 860 SSD | Displays: 3 Dell HD 1920x1080 @ 5520x1080 windowed ||| Hardware : TM Warthog HOTAS Stick+Throttle | 3x TM Cougar MFD's | WW Combat Panel | WW Landing Panel ||| Mods: F/A-18C | F-16 | P51-D | UH-1H | C130-J | NTTR | Persian Gulf | Syria | Channel | Normandy | WWII Assets | Super Carrier | Combined Arms
