Bob1 Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 Hi. I have been away from dcs a while but I updated my dcs beta today and discover all my missions I placed in user\savedgames\openbeta are gone. Same with all my soundmods. Seems to me the folder structure have completely changed. Sounds.edc, never seen that before. Seems like a lot of protected files in there. Are ED trying to stop the sound modding? Hoping someone could be so kind and point me to some threads where all these changes are explained. Hoping there are a good reason for these changes. Thought the point of having mods and missions in saved games folder was so they wouldnt be deleted in updates of the game. Thanks in advance
Rudel_chw Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 Hi. I have been away from dcs a while but I updated my dcs beta today and discover all my missions I placed in user\savedgames\openbeta are gone. Really strange, I've updated my openbeta a lot of times and have never lost any mission or other file at /saved games/ Same with all my soundmods. Seems to me the folder structure have completely changed. Sounds.edc, never seen that before. Seems like a lot of protected files in there. Are ED trying to stop the sound modding? Yes, the sound files are now protected ... rather than stop sound modding, ED is protecting their intellectual property, so if you want a new gun sound you have to do it with your own sound files instead of merely modifiying ED's. Thought the point of having mods and missions in saved games folder was so they wouldnt be deleted in updates of the game. it is .. maybe if you could attach the autoupdate_log.txt file (on DCS program folder) then we could see what happened on this particular case.
