Just beginning to get hyped up with the upcoming KW.

Will the simulation include any functionality for the IDM or ATHS system datalink?

I've not dived into the system specifics yet, but my intial understanding is that on the KW the main use is calling fire support missions? Both airborne and artillery.

Does it provide a team member/wingman position or target handover capability?

Will this be featured at all? Could it integrate with either Combined Arms or MP?

Unknown at this time.

ATHS was designed to do that but in practice it was easier/more reliable/common to use voice coms.

ATHS and JVMF messages aren't dynamic but can contain target co-ordinates (DDM = DD MM.MM=60ft, UTM 8 fig. = 10m) accurate enough to acquire a target or call in artillery.

• JVMF is the successor to ATHS. Intended to pass battlefield messages back and forth. SPOT reports, Calls-for-Fire (airborne and arty), SITREPS, NBC reports, WARNOs even.

• JVMF is intended as a tactical messaging protocol, to pass information within a local area. It was designed to pass information over RF radios such as SINCGARS.

As typically used, the crews configured the protocol to pass messages over the TACTICAL INTERNET, which is a satellite based system.

• Targets or reports passed via JVMF to other aircraft, if accepted from the inbox, could be stored in the aircrafts database, and would then also populate on the HSD.

Unknown at this time (possibly out of scope due to it's complexity).

Unknown. Might be simpler/sufficient to pass target coordinate using voice coms. / manual map markers.
