Schwarzfeld Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Following the latest DCS Open Beta update, audio levels are extremely low in DCS in single player and multiplayer, with DCS audio set to 100%, and my machine's volume levels all set to max. For example, I can sit in a P-47 with the canopy open and perform a max-power takeoff, and I can barley hear the engine... I've repaired my installation just to be safe. Any suggestions on where to begin troubleshooting?
Flappie Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Hi Schwarzfeld. Can you please attach your dcs.log? Maybe we'll find a clue in there. Have you checked both Windows sound mixer and ingame sound mixer? (yellow squares below) What about other ingame sound options? (red quares below) Is the "main audio out" on the right device? ---
Flappie Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Can you please attach your dcs.log file? It is possible that DCS only detected one channel. We'll see this in the log. ---
Schwarzfeld Posted September 15, 2020 Author Posted September 15, 2020 Flappie - Log is attached; I checked all the configurations you've mentioned, everything is set correctly. DCS appears to be playing audio in surround sound properly, however it is very, very faint/quiet with everything turned up to max.dcs.log
Flappie Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 (edited) Thank you. I see no error, even though the sound device choice is repeated once for some reason ("Opening audio device").2020-09-15 11:35:01.066 INFO DCS: DCS/2.5.6.54046 (x86_64; Windows NT 10.0.18362) ... 2020-09-15 11:35:01.321 INFO SOUND: Using driver: wasapi 2020-09-15 11:35:01.323 INFO SOUND: Found 4 available audio device(s): 2020-09-15 11:35:01.323 INFO SOUND: 0: ID: "{0.0.0.00000000}.{57d2a6f2-d995-4f4f-b033-b828bfcc6629}", Name: "Speakers (2- Logitech G533 Gaming Headset)" 2020-09-15 11:35:01.323 INFO SOUND: 1: ID: "{0.0.0.00000000}.{b8dd3edb-54e6-476e-82b0-39210c8ff8c7}", Name: "Speakers (Realtek® Audio)" 2020-09-15 11:35:01.323 INFO SOUND: 2: ID: "{0.0.0.00000000}.{e6dafaa9-fd91-4dbb-9496-964d74da25cc}", Name: "Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (Realtek® Audio)" 2020-09-15 11:35:01.323 INFO SOUND: 3: ID: "{0.0.0.00000000}.{ff923b33-3926-4f58-b91b-2975f8e56b67}", Name: "24MB35 (2- NVIDIA High Definition Audio)" 2020-09-15 11:35:05.548 INFO SOUND: Added sound path: Sounds 2020-09-15 11:35:05.569 INFO SOUNDER: Loaded 207 packed sounders. ... 2020-09-15 11:35:16.921 INFO SOUND: Opening audio device "{0.0.0.00000000}.{57d2a6f2-d995-4f4f-b033-b828bfcc6629}" 2020-09-15 11:35:16.924 INFO SOUND: Driver reports 8 channels with mask 0x63F 2020-09-15 11:35:16.924 INFO SOUND: Using 8 channels at 48000 Hz 2020-09-15 11:35:16.924 INFO SOUND: Channel layout: FrontLeft FrontRight FrontCenter LowFrequency BackLeft BackRight SideLeft SideRight 2020-09-15 11:35:16.937 INFO SOUND: Opening audio device "{0.0.0.00000000}.{57d2a6f2-d995-4f4f-b033-b828bfcc6629}" 2020-09-15 11:35:16.937 INFO SOUND: Driver reports 8 channels with mask 0x63F 2020-09-15 11:35:16.937 INFO SOUND: Using 8 channels at 48000 Hz 2020-09-15 11:35:16.937 INFO SOUND: Channel layout: FrontLeft FrontRight FrontCenter LowFrequency BackLeft BackRight SideLeft SideRight I have no clue what could cause your issue, but I see your Windows 10 is not up to date (your version is 1909 when 2004 is out). You should try updating Windows, and if it doesn't change anything, try uninstalling/reinstalling your audio driver as well. Edited September 15, 2020 by Flappie ---
Schwarzfeld Posted September 15, 2020 Author Posted September 15, 2020 I did recently try uninstalling/reinstalling the audio device previously, that did not resolve the issue, I will run windows update...
