Alexrey Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I've been practicing my missile evading skills for the past few days with varied success. My main problem is that I don't know any moves except the one I made up, which can only be used when the missile is coming head on :( So what I'm looking for are tracks of good missile evading skills being used, or dogfights, that have been recorded on LOMAC 1.02. I'd really appreciate any help since I'm getting more and more desperate as the days roll by :P
Vekkinho Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Flying a notch (beaming the missile) is putting it on your 3/9 line, all missiles fly lead intercept so turning perpendicular to missile and accelerating while popping chaff and flare would make missile pull maximal lead or spoofed by countermeasures. Missile burns solid propellant during initial stage of flight (10 sec) and bleeds a lot of it's energy if turns agressively. Now let's imagine you fly heading 180°. You hear misslie launch tone and detect a misslie coming straight at you (head on), missile has a course of 360°. Now what do you do: Break turn +/-90° from original heading, roll wings level flying 270° or 90° respectively. You can also pitch up a bit (10°) and accelerate (full MIL/AB if neccesary). Missile now turns to pull some lead in order to intercept you. While it turns it pulls some G and bleeds energy. Missile trajectory is now diagonal (more miles to travel = less energy when it comes close). Simple, isn't it?! P.S. But beware, if missile is launched within NEZ this technique won't work for you! P.S.2 Also check Ironhand's great Flanker training site for various weapon evasion and delivery techniques: http://www.flankertraining.com/ironhand/index.html [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
S77th-GOYA Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Alexrey, do you fly a particular plane? Missile evasion in 1.02 is much tougher than in 1.12. But the best techniques may depend on what you are flying or more importantly, which missiles YOU are carrying.
Alexrey Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 I'm an Su-27 lover :D! So yea that's what I fly 90% of the time. Thanks for that guide you gave me Vekkinho! I tried it out but still got hit; probably because I was too close to the bandit (10 km) when he fired at me. But I did notice that the missile was losing speed really fast so with a few last second maneuvers it could easily be evaded. BTW what is NEZ?

Vekkinho Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 NEZ = no escape zone You said you were pretty close to the bandit (10km). That's well inside NEZ of, I suppose, AIM-120 :-) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
