Vekkinho Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 It's not allowed to break the speed of sound over populated areas at all, I mean we had an incident 2 months ago when a Fishbed went supersonic over Sisak, boom was heard in Zagreb (at a 50 km distance) and everybody thought another bomb went off somewhere in the streets of the city. We had a lot of complaints during Joint wings exercise with Croatian Fishbeds and Italian Falcons, USAFE Falcons, USN Hornets and Tomcats few years ago (IIRC June 2003) when some of these planes went supersonic over Kvarner and Istria causing sonic booms. Many turists got scared that another war's about the break in the Balkans so we tend to keep it as rare and high as possible :smilewink: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dbFQwjcwmk&feature=related [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Vekkinho Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) Last week our Fishbeds practiced GCI with USAF F-16 from Aviano AB over Lika in central Croatia and this week two Croatian Fishbedds took off to intercept German Eurofighter for his visit to Pleso. LAst year our (CroAF) pilots visited Ramstein AB and this year we returned the favor to German pilots! Here's the entire article but in Croatian: http://www.index.hr/vijesti/clanak/eurofighter-njemackog-luftwaffea-sletio-na-pleso/435286.aspx Edited May 28, 2009 by Vekkinho [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

JaNk0 Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Hmm, I have the Eurofighter Manual (Eurofighter flight manual C.16 31 March 2005). I'll take a look. Or if you can't wait, download it: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=40769&highlight=Eurofighter+Manual [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Actually, EF2K took off from Cerklje AB, Slovenia, which is at 50 clicks distance from Pleso AB where it landed. It had EFT because it did some CAP over Slovenian airspace (remember Slovenia pays by the hour to have NATO planes controlling their airspace) and when fuel reached Bingo it entered Croatian airspace and was intercepted and escorted by a pair of Croatian MiG-21UMD to land at Pleso AB.
