maxTRX Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Has this been reported as a bug? I know there's a thread in bugs section tagged as [already reported] but it gets sort of vague at the end. The response from BN was the issue was related to locking distance. The OP tried to clarify that it wasn't distance related and there was an issue with the handoff from Tpod and the MavF locking the ground instead of the mover. I posted a vid but then the thread slipped away. Anyways, there's always a way to launch 4 Mavs in one pass... ED way:D

I really liked this approach, but when I tried it, my MAV seeker recaged to Boresight after each shot and I couldn't slew it back onto the target fast enough. In your video it seemed like the seeker was still roughly pointed at the target area. Was it you Dive angle that kept the "boresight" close to the target to allow small slews to lock the next one? In your video it seemed like the seeker was still roughly pointed at the target area. Was it you Dive angle that kept the "boresight" close to the target to allow small slews to lock the next one? Yep, the Mavs are bore sighted after the previous one flies off. OK, let's begin with bitching:D... I hate the mech. of this implementation of Lightning pod when it comes to dealing with movers... realistic on not. On top of that, there is a bug related to handing off from Tpod to IrMavs so, I had to resort to using only Mav seeker to acquire. Knowing that every missile will start in bore view, I had to visually acquire the movers via HUD and point the Mav triangle on the HUD toward them and stay there, at slow speed of course. Once I had them on Mav page, I could either make minor flight path corrections to line up the seeker (should be uncaged already) or slew the seeker to the mover. My Warthog 'TDC' doesn't make slewing easy but that's another story. So, as you can see, lots of things to hustle with in a short time. Obviously you can only use this kind of approach against defenseless targets, my favorites:D

Have lately been having better luck with TPOD->MAVF handoffs, but only when the contrast is REALLY GOOD. There's a reason all the videos you see have vehicles on a ROAD, a RUNWAY or alone in the DESERT. Then, of course, even though the MAV looks like it is locked on to the TPOD designated target, sometimes it will hit something else nearby. Usually another bad guy, so it is OK, but still annoying. The MAV seeker is pretty good at SHORT ranges and when the targets stand out from other clutter...and when stuff isn't shooting at you. I wish there were a way to to SLEW the seeker even when a Target was already designated so you could snap it on to the target point and then refine the lock by slewing.. Alas...
