Boberro Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Hello, I searched some threads about Vikhrs and know that its circual flight is normal and also in FC it isn't well done. So I want to know when is good moment to fire them cause: 1 - Sometimes happen that even from 8 km missile doesn't hit (!). From launch start are big circles and miss target. 2 - Often fired from 3 km doesn't hit. 3 - Sometimes fired from 2 (!) - 3 km hit target (after fired immadietly is straight flying without any big circles [does very, very small]). 4 - I noticed that even if it flies straight at beginning it can do bigger circles at final approach to target and due this can miss target. So what is good moment to fire and 100% (ok 99%:P) hit the target when we see various events I can say that firing from 8 km isn't 100% success. I think that Vikhrs are programmed that they have random variable which range x to x when making circles. Computer random decides how big circle will do next missile - if not why one missile fired from 3 km hit, another doesn't hit (fired in same conditions). Will be it patched in flag Lock on's plane product? Greetings :) Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... Grimes Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Their path behavior does seem random doesn't it? I think 3-5 KM is the sweet spot for targeting with these things. Its all dependent of the path the missiles take after behind fired. Of what I noticed... it helps to be in a slight dive nose pointed just above the target. If its moving attack back to front, so the vehicles won't make their sudden turn to avoid a fire. 1 The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Greetings :) Post a track of your Attack-Run employing Vikhrs and we might be able to see where the Hiccups are creeping in :) Personally I do not experience the problems you are mentioning - as Grimes said - it might just be the attitude of your craft at launch. Washout Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Have to agree with Grimes and Viper on this. Altitude and target aspect are the determining factor with these weapons. From maximum range it is best to line your aircraft up for a head on/rear on attack, make sure to try and stay at least 2000m altitude when firing, this will give the vikhir longer to aquire the laser and stabilise in flight. For shorter ranges altitude is still the key, the higher you are at launch the better they will track in to the target, and as Grimes mentioned keep the nose pointed at the target as much as possible and watch your airspeed to avoid closing to fast, the faster your closure rate the more erratic the missile path. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.dfa-squadron.co.uk My rig:Intel i5 2500K @4.5Ghz ,ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe,MSI 1080 GTX Gaming X edition,16gig Cosair DDR3 2400Mhz RAM, Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog/Saitek pro pedals,TrackIR4
Boberro Posted April 16, 2008 Author Posted April 16, 2008 Thats the key! i did some flights and when I am 2-3 km to target and fire Vikhr when "brick" nose is closer to target it doesn't do big circles :D (but sometimes don't hit still....) But I heard from many ppl that Vikhrs are LITTLE crappy in FC so... needs fixing :D I felt earlier that some must be with altitude and angle of firing in relation to target but thanks you for saying that same :D Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies.
