169th_Moose Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Issue reported with 9800xt and nvidia FX5900 graphics cards. Maybe with higher end video cards. Still have not put my hand on one yet. So cannot confirmed for nvidia 6800 or Xt800. Tought letting you know... This pic are trees shaped like blocs. I've also notice this type of distortion with buildings...Heat & drivers seem to have been elimitaded as possible cause for this issue. Also since it was confirmed with the 2 major supplier or graphics cards on the market. They say pics or louder then words, so here it is; Again issue seems to be random, so pin pointing the source is hard to Identify.
britgliderpilot Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Re: Graphic bug, Warning high rez pic inluded Trees shaped like blocks has recently appeared on my system. Radeon 9700 Pro, Cat 4.11, Windows XP SP2. I don't know if it's SP2 or the drivers that did it . . . I installed them within about 48 hours of one another, and I don't think I played Lomac between them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg

I've tested from official video drivers to old ones to beta ones, the issue always seem to be re occuring. Also issue was apperent even before service pack 2 came out. Dont think thats the issue. Im still looking to isolate issue. But I agree its a bug that should be address by the dev's and beta testers. Thanks for letting us know that we aint alone experiencing it. Try joining online Overcast thunderstorm online servers. Theres another bug That I wished it would be looked at. Rain stuck in Mid air, wont hit the ground, we named it the matrix effect. Reason I like playing overcast, Its too beautifull.. Im reporting these issue, since as a consumer I feel you should know what the end user are experiencing. Why am i doing it. It because I believe in Eagle Dynamics and want to continue supporting it the best way I can. Cheers.
Caretaker Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Hi, I had that problem with the trees before the beta test as well. Unfortunately I can't recall if it was with 1.01 or still with 1.02. Never encountered it with 1.1 though, so I hope this is a good sign ;) Is the "matrix effect" with the rain purely a multiplayer issue? I think I've read that somewhere... anyway, I do know that some changes have been made to the rain/snow animations because there were some issues with it - but again, whether this affects this very problem I cannot say for sure. Cool, thanks for the update. For the Matrix effect, yes it seems to be only multiplayer. Looking forward for 1.1 Thanks for all your hard work. Cheers Addicted to LockOn
Cromewell Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 That looks like the wrong texture being applied to a building/tree. Usually it's from alt-tabbing out. It sometimes gets worse before it gets better, but it will fix itself if you alt-tab enough.
