Wanna tell you a story about a company I know.....not Rosie, haha.

Over 30 years ago, I was about 16 or so, ,my buddy Oliver and I bought those ultra cool looking Oakley Shades to wear them doing BMX Freestyle, those original ones that even Walter Röhrl was wearing when he was racing rally cars ( way after we had ours btw ). They lasted for years until one of the ear levers ( hope that's the correct term ) started to clip out from time to time. In the end, one lever's clamp broke off and by that time I had several sunglasses, had sold my BMX and was riding a Springer Harley with RayBan's ;). Tho I could not wear them anymore I kept them till today. About two months ago my buddy Oliver died froma heart attack and memories came up, good ol' days freestyling, wheelies and bunny hops...all that with those ultra cool and unbreakable glasses from Oakley with Lifetime warranty ( which I forgot ). So twelling in my memories I contacted Oakley here in Germany to see if I can get that right lever replaced, no matter how much that would be, I wanted those glasses to be working again. They told me to write it all down in an email with photos that show all parts of the glasses and the damaged part in detail. I wrote that mail and nothing happened....till today.

I had this mail in my inbox, almost deleted it cause it looked like Spam but then saw "oakley.com"

Guess what: They rated the damage as "under warranty" and since they cannot replace the part they offered me 3 similar models to choose from as a replacement, AFTER 35 YEARS !!!

I picked the one closest looking to the original Shades and wrote them back with many thanks.

What a surprise, I had those glasses written off completely and now this treat.

I wish they would all treat their customers like Oakley ( or ED, with their long support and pay once play forever strategy ).

In Memory of Oliver

Oh yeah , style over function (not the Oakleys) . I had a springer too . Surprised we survived . But when you're single , it's IMPORTANT to be cool , for the ladies' sake .

(Sigh) . Not even Oakleys could make me cool now :)

Springer Club

Despite it ruined my knees, kidneys and afew other parts I still loved it. That raw feedback of that Harley/Porsche engine, directly bolted to the frame, no shocks, no rubber and foremost, no counter balancing shafts ( 1994 model ) the whole beast was shaking under me.

I will never forget when I picked it up from the dealer after I had some nasty parts put in, SS Super S Carb + Kuryakyn Hypercharger, Crane Cams, Single Fire Ignition, Primary Belt and afew other goodies...it was better than stock, even more reliable ( in the rain and wet weather ) and oh boy...I felt like a grenade was exploding under my butt when I fired it up, God hold those pistons tight or I am history - were my first thoughts.

The bad sides, you better forget them, 53m for 62mph -0mph, a normal Audi of the era was standing still after 36m. You better dont brake but look for the GAP to get through..or throw an anchor but braking wont help, haha. Saved my ass a few times.

My friend got 2 new ones, monster torque, fast but no soul. Digital Ignition, Injection, ALB and what not else. When you sit on it, you wouldnt know the engine runs if you wouldnt hear it.

That would have never happened on mine, the moment you fired it up every bone in your body was shaking to the rhythm of the V2, THAT is what Harley is all about imho.

Yeah, now 25 years later I wouldn't wanna ride one...nahh..gimme a nice convertible maybe, with heating and massage seats :smilewink:
