MSVCRT.DLL hell - need help!

HI gents.

I've been having some serious problems with Black screen in FC lately. as I understood it - it'd got to do with the msvcrt.dll file in lockon.

I've been trying a few solutions after a forum search but with no success:

1.addind a .txt file (or any other blank file for that matter) and renaiming it: lockon.exe.local

2. creating an empty folder in lockon dir and naming it lockon.exe.local this resulted in an error messege for missing entry point which is OK clicking OK gets you into the game but than it locksup in loadup screen with a runtime error messege - WTF?

3. copying the lockon.exe file, pasting it in lockon dir and renaiming it as Lockon.exe.local - no error messege this time - but no fix either....

4.creating an empty folder in lockon dir and naming it lockon.exe.local, copying the msvcrt.dll file and pasting it into this folder - error messege with runtime error in loadup screen.

 

any other fixes out there I'm not aware of?

Id delete the one in the lockon folder , it should use the (newer) one in your windows directory.

 

I'd be skeptical about that file all of a sudden causing game failures , its more likely you've got something installed improperly,faulty driver, corrpupted files etc.

and where exectly in WINDOWS dir should the newer be?

OH,

did I mention that the problems only began AFTER I changed my GFX card from a Radeon X1800XL to GF8800GT?
