Sapper31 Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 New to the AV8B here. Wondering if im doing something wrong using GBU12s. Im using the litening pod to lase targets and using AUTO (ccrp) mode at various altitudes for level attitude bombing. The release point seems too close to the target because the bomb consistently overshoots the target.. you can tell it acquires the laze because you can see the bomb head trying to point at the target, but the angle is too steep and it has too much energy and ends up overshooting. I end up just doing a CCIP release which works fine but obviously is not ideal vs SA threats. Anybody have tips or is this a bug possibly?
Vakarian Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Do you know the flight parameters? Altitude, speed, when do you start to lase and where do you lase exactly? I haven't experienced issues with GBU-12s and 16s
Sapper31 Posted October 29, 2020 Author Posted October 29, 2020 So its on Persian Gulf (not sure if that would matter), and i've experienced it between 8000'-16000' (average 12000' drop), and have tried it both fast around 400KIAS and slow around 230KIAS, same thing happens.
Vakarian Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Hmmm, I rarely drop them so low, but I'll give it a try. If you can reproduce this, share a track file so it's easier to check and pinpoint the thing making the bombs miss their target
