ShaunX Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 The F-16C manual states that returning the Dogfight switch to centre "returns to the last selected Master Mode", which it does, however, it doesn't return the range scale on the FCR to it's previous setting. It leaves it as usually 10 nm (or even 5 if it had a closer lock in ACM). Now this may be to specification but it's inconvenient because if I'm returning to A-A mode from dogfight mode with multiple bandits, it may be because remaining bandits are now BVR, so now I have to let go the joystick, grab the mouse, go head down and click on the range scale OSBs to locate the other bandits. Ok, so I'm only loosing a few seconds and it's only a small gripe but I do think it would make more sence to return previous range scale setting. fudabidu Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 so now I have to let go the joystick, grab the mouse, go head down and click on the range scale OSBs to locate the other bandits. Or you could just hold the TDC up for a few seconds and bump the FCR range this way. No need to let go of the joystick ("HOTAS") or go heads down to find the mouse.
ShaunX Posted November 19, 2020 Author Posted November 19, 2020 I guess I could. Just being picky really. I've ended up binding left MFD OSBs 19 and 20 to modified CMS fwd and aft on the F-16 stick, which does the trick in a click. While I was there I bound OSB 18-Azimuth to modified CMS Right and 17-elevation bars to Left. I'm finding this convenient in BVR too. Think I've just got used to pretty much everything being bound to the HOTAS in the low-fi F-15C. Fri13 Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Or you could just hold the TDC up for a few seconds and bump the FCR range this way. As was said, losing few seconds by any method and that is very odd thing that you do not get instantly back to BVR mode but you are forced to WVR mode. Ok, so I'm only loosing a few seconds and it's only a small gripe but I do think it would make more sence to return previous range scale setting. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
