Redragefun Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Windows 10 did an update, and since then the game has been unstable. I am having multiple crashes, both trying to load the game and trying to get into the game to fly a plane. I mainly fly the F14B, F/A18C and Mirage 2000C. I was just trying to load the Mirage into the Persian Gulf map, I was using a simple flight from the Mission Editor, and the screen went black and locked up. I ended up having to force restart my computer. If I do manage to get in the game and get off the ground, the audio will distort at various times, especially when I start the APU on the Hornet. The game will also stutter and pause, it makes flying impossible. During the graphic freeze, the sounds continue but the image is paused and I can't do anything. I made sure to turn off the graphics acceleration in Windows. Not sure what else to do. I did try and turn down the settings, preload radius and whatnot, and I don't think that did anything. Getting afraid to just launch the game.
Flappie Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Hi. Please attach your dcs.log file ( C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS...\Logs\dcs.log ). Ensure Windows GPU Scheduling is off. ---
Redragefun Posted November 19, 2020 Author Posted November 19, 2020 I made sure the GPU was turned off. Here is the log. DCS Log, can't upload the extension old. The DCS Log ends as: dcs.log.old Not sure why.
Flappie Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 dcs.log = log of the latest run dcs.log.old = log of the previous run (you need to rename it as "dcs.log.old.log" if you want to attach it) You sould have a dcs.log file. But since you're reporting a crash, I should have asked you for your most recent "dcs.log-20201119-######.zip" file. Attach this one please. ---
Redragefun Posted November 19, 2020 Author Posted November 19, 2020 Alrighty, let me give this a shot then. Okay, I think that worked.dcs.log-20190929-060110.zip
Flappie Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 You successfully attached a zip file indeed, but I'm afraid it dates back from 2019. You should find one starting with "dcs.log-202011...". By the way, if you play the open beta, you have to look into the "Saved Games\DCS.openbeta" folder. ---
Redragefun Posted November 20, 2020 Author Posted November 20, 2020 I only make missions up in the Mission Editor. I never play anything else, as I am still learning the aircraft. Here are the screenshots of my folders, nothing that you have asked for is present, just what I submitted earlier.
Flappie Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Oh, I see. Your Windows hides the ".log" extension. This is why you only read "dcs", "debrief" and "voice_chat". I thought you would have multiple crash-zip files, but it seems you only have that one from 2019. Please attach the file simply called "dcs", from the Logs folder. ---
Redragefun Posted November 20, 2020 Author Posted November 20, 2020 Alrighty, thanks for all your help. Gotta fly my jets!dcs.log
Flappie Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 I'm not sure your Windows updated itself recently: it is one year old (November 2019). One thing you should definitely do is turn off the Fullscreen option of the game: your game will keep displaying in full screen, and you will avoid the random black screen bug. Otherwise, I don't see any problem in your log. If you get a new DCS crash, please attach the log here. ---
Redragefun Posted November 22, 2020 Author Posted November 22, 2020 Well, now the game just doesn't work. It does not matter which module I attempt to fly. The Mission Editor loads, the initial screens work, but then when it is trying to load the module, each one gets stuck at, "World Preload 1/60." It freezes the entire computer so that I have to do a hard shutdown of the pc with the power button or unplug the pc. I never get any kind of crash code or confirmation, it just freezes. I will try and attach the right log this time.dcs.log
Flappie Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 The log stops abruptly. I have no clue what's happening. Please try the following: Rename your "C:\Users\tiari\Saved Games\DCS" folder as "DCS_backup" (do not delete it). Launch the game (you'll have default configuration with default bindings) and try to fly an M-2000C instant action mission. If it keeps crashing, try the cleanup and repair procedure. ---
