Ebphoto Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 Hello, Im a total newb with the F14 so forgive me please if this is something really obvious & I’m overlooking it. I have the View keys programmed to the hat rotary switch on my Logitech Extreme 3D & it works well while in the pilot position and outside views. The problem happens when I hit the #2 key to go into the RIO seat. I cannot look around with it. Also, I’m playing from a MSI laptop and don’t use a standard keyboard so a lot of the keys I have to map differently to work in my keyboard. I did just order a Track IR yesterday so hopefully this will help a lot and I’ll probably bite the bullet here soon and get a Thrustmaster HOTAS. In the mean time what do I have to do to be able to look around in the RIO seat? I’d like to learn how to use everything but can’t look around... I also can’t figure out how to get the radar screen on the Pilots MFD. How is that done? I’ve seen it on YouTube videos but can’t figure it out. I think I’ve looked at the key napping a thousand times but can’t find it. Last question, how do you download the new F14A model? I’d like to try it out but can’t figure out how to download it. Thank you in advance and again I apologize if these are newb questions. Thanks, Eric
QuiGon Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 I also can’t figure out how to get the radar screen on the Pilots MFD. How is that done? I’ve seen it on YouTube videos but can’t figure it out. I think I’ve looked at the key napping a thousand times but can’t find it. There is no way to get the radar screen (the Detail Data Display/DDD, which is the upper of the two central RIO screens) to show in the front pit. I guess you were talking about the Tactical Information Display/TID, which is the lower of the two central RIO screens, which can be shown on the pilots HSD lower scree. The pilot needs to set the HSD mode switch to TID: https://www.heatblur.se/F-14Manual/c...-control-panel (number 8 ). Last question, how do you download the new F14A model? I’d like to try it out but can’t figure out how to download it. It gets downloaded automatically as part of the update. It's currently only available in the Open Beta though. It will come to the Release version soon. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Ebphoto Posted November 22, 2020 Author Posted November 22, 2020 Thank you, yes that’s what I meant. I thought that was the radar screen as well but I’m new to this! Thanks for clearing it up though and I’ll look up how to get it shown. So the A model is only available to people that are beta testers? Or is this part of a beta build that can be downloaded. I’m guessing it’s the first one though! thanks again, E

Open Beta version is available for all for free to use however you want. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/#3303157 Having a stable version you can upgrade to open beta (and back) any time. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/#1683443 (2b part) Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Crudbasher Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 The RIO position has its own controls setup file. So you have to map your hat switch for views in both the pilot position and then the rio position file. When you select Adjust Controls, look in the upper left of the popup. It will probably say F-14 Pilot Sim. Change that to F-14 RIO Sim then setup the hat.
