Sytse Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Ok, so I've setup my router to forward port 10308 and I can host if I use hyperlobby. However, when I'm not using hyperlobby I can't host. So, now I have the idea that I'm doing something wrong. But what could go wrong? I go to network play, select the "server" button... ADDR = all interfaces Port = 10308 Speed = 128/128 (I've tried different speeds, which one is the best for hosting? should I pick the maximum speed for my connection?) I click start and load a multiplayer mission. Should be fine, right? But others can't connect to my server!! can someone please help me? Ps. Oh, and what do the 'pool' and 'chat' buttons do? Ironhand Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Speed = 128/128 is the recommended setting. I'd recommend that you go to http://www.portforward.com, find your router, and set things up accordingly. Also, if you use a firewall, follow their instructions for that, too. I had a problem hosting a Teamspeak server as well as missions until I set things up according to their instructions (which are far more detailed than "open port 10308"). Sytse Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 Already wnet to portforward.com and followed the guide for my particular router and lock on. 10308 should be forwarded correctly. I am able to host via hyperlobby... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Red Arrows homepage
Ironhand Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Already wnet to portforward.com and followed the guide for my particular router and lock on. 10308 should be forwarded correctly. I am able to host via hyperlobby... I, too, could host via HL. The issue was a setting in my firewall (Comodo). Once I configured it as shown at the site, the person trying to join both the mission and the TS server directly had no further problems. Guest jkramer5 Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Try adding the ports in the windows firewall. If it's disabled anythig it does't know about can still be blocked. Enable it, add the ports and disable.
Sytse Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 I fixed it now by opening the ports in the windows firewall. It doesn't have to be disabled at all. Still wondering about the connection speed though... wouldn't it be better to host at 2048/2048 when you're hosting for aout 10 players? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Red Arrows homepage
MadTommy Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 i have forwarded the following ports for lockon.... 10308 80 6667 40000-42000 and 128/128 is the best setting afaik (works best for me and my colleagues, no matter how fast your connection or amount of people.) i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. TM Warthog, Saitek combat pro pedals, TrackIR 4
Sytse Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 You play at the Ubisoft gaming service then? Up until now, I've only tried 128/128, but if I host at 2048/2048, should the others also connect at 2048? Or can they connect on whatever speed they wish? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Red Arrows homepage
X_Man Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I have the WTR 600N which comes with a 1G network connection. I set my speed = 100 mbit/100 mbit with no problems. Then again it's just me flying against AI using LMR generated missions. :)
