Alexrey Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 I was flying tonight and about 20 minutes in my FPS changed from about 60 to 10! It got SOOO jerky that I could hardly play. Inevitably I got shot down which was really frustrating. Has this happened to anyone else and do you know why it happened?
SuperKungFu Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Although it never happened to me, it would help if you post up your system specs. My guess is probably the ram. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Alexrey Posted May 24, 2008 Author Posted May 24, 2008 I have a gig of DDR400 RAM. Is that too little?
Boberro Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Sometimes it happens, example in the mission is lot of action, or mission is long time without restart. Also game engine isn't good so it needs huge computer to play smoothly. EDIT: For LOOOW it could be, for higher settings not. Also if mission is huge sometimes even on LOW it is too low RAM. Give full specification! Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
RedTiger Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Keep in mind that there are parameters that affect FPS independent of system specs and even settings. As Boberro said, some missions are huge and will bog down your system. Another very important thing, how low where you flying? On my new system, I haven't bothered to tweak any settings, I just have everything on high. I can tell you that flying low over the Krasnodar area with all those buildings and trees on these settings will bring me down to about 10 FPS, depending on where I look. Contrast that with the 3 figure FPS I get when flying at 40k on a clear day.
Majesco Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 I have a gig of DDR400 RAM. Is that too little? i think 1 gig of DDR400 is not much, too low for playing LO at high settings other problems may depend on your CPU, Pen 4 or AMD single core could make some serious troubles that i no longer see on Core 2 Duo, such as hi-res skin conflict that make the fps change from 40 to 1-2fps :music_whistling:

Lots of anomalies like parts of the plane turning all white, looking backward reduced FPS to almost 0, etc. I always attributed it to RAM issues.
Majesco Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Using Core 2 Duo CPUs and ModMan 6.0 make you feel much better, i no longer meet those problems again C2D CPU or med-range VGA (like mine) really fixed many problems :D
