Sukhoi2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Are the waypoints set during mission creation supposed to be visible as one flies that mission and hits "F10"? Once in flight, the only way to be able to view those set points seems to be to stop / quit the mission and go back to the editor. Weird but maybe that's how the application works? Also, why are my starting points on a runway designated as "SP" and as "DP", instead of "0" and "4" ("4" for example being the landing point)? Every tutorial I see has "0" -> "a number", so I am not sure if "SP" and "DP" are meant for something else and maybe I am selecting something erroneously in mission creation. Thanks to whomever may be able to assist!
draconus Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 I can't remember F10 map showing waypoints before - so rather not supposed to be visible. You can view flight plan in kneeboard map during the flight. Or depending on your aircraft systems like moving map in modern jets. I noticed Red side has SP - starting point and DP - destination point as opposed to 0 and last waypoint number for Blue. Sukhoi2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 Ok, thanks. Let me ask you another question: if DP is destination point (for Red) and I select 'landing', why can I not see the final stretch in my mission as an approach with glide scope? I have created a basic 4-waypoint route, with DP = waypoint 4 (landing). I am still going thru the DCS Manual, but wouldn't selecting a DP as 'landing' create a final approach with glide scope? Or not? What am I missing? thank you.
draconus Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 (edited) I'm not sure what you mean and where do you look for glide slope. Are you in the Return and then Landing nav mode? What aircraft? I guess Su-27/33 avionics from your descriptions. Mind that proper glide slope with russian ILS is only supported by a handful of airbases in Russian side of Caucasus. Only there, flying the right angle and within range you will get ILS/glideslope indications on ADI, HSI and HUD. On other airbases you will get only partial info or no GS at all. feefifofum Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 In the Sukhoi jets, you should see your flight plan when in the navigation (ENR) HUD mode on the datalink display. This display is scalable as req'd. Hit the NAV mode button a second time to enter RTN mode, which will take you to the initial approach fix for the airbase you have designated as your landing field in the editor; you can also cycle to any other base. While they are not named, you can see their physical locations on the display. On reaching the IAF, the HUD should automatically switch to landing mode and display glideslope indications if the field supports them, if memory serves. 1 THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
