Ghost7 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Thank you HB for the F-14, it looks great and it is a joy to use in DCS. I do have a question about ECM fairings. From what I know about the Tomcat the late A and B had ECM fairings next to the engine intakes. The D did not have those fairings since these antennas were mounted internally. Is there a reason they are missing on the model? I understand it is purely visual but I was wondering if it is an oversight or am I missing something? Below is a link of what I'm talking about. Overall a great product, and I look forward to the continuous improvements and support you bring to this product. HOME OF M.A.T.S. - Tomcat Details (topedge.com) Dan
BreaKKer Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Iirc, with the introduction of the ALR-67 RWR, those fairings were no longer needed. BreaKKer CAG and Commanding Officer of: Carrier Air Wing Five // VF-154 Black Knights
Skysurfer Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 AFAIK this will be an option later down the road.

But they were still there till the end on most As. Almost every jet I'm trying to get painted up for the reserve squadrons were Block 135s and 140s and had the fairings through the ends of their careers when they were sent to VF-41, 211, etc. and deployed to combat in OEF and OIF. 1 Heatblur Rivet Counting Squad™ VF-11 and VF-31 1988 [WIP] VF-201 & VF-202 [WIP]
Ghost7 Posted December 8, 2020 Author Posted December 8, 2020 Hi BreaKKer, I could be wrong but I was under the impression they were added when the ALR-67 was introduced. All pictures of the early Tomcats don't have those fairings however late As and Bs have them. Please let me know if I'm wrong. One way or another it doesn't change how great the plane is in DCS, I just think it would be nice to add this visual detail down the road for accuracy. Thank you all for your inputs.
