i've had exactly the same issue...

The fix for me was to activate one of the hand controllers and then press the windows button (on the hand controller) to bring up the windows vr overlay menu. Immediately press again to close  - and then all works normally with the mouse pointer for the remainder of the session. Only need to do this once for the first time after a cold start or restart of my pc.

That seems like a "focus" problem in Windows( and of course "Mixed Reality") Ive got the same problem, and its frustrating as hell....perusing the other replys.

You can end this behaviour in the Windows settings for mixed reality.

If you set in on manual you won't have to do or press anything.

Whaaaaaaa???

I found that sometimes Lalt + C also brought back the cursor. Will try the masking tape on the sensor. I don't like the behavior of my pc when I am putting on/taking off the G2. Sometimes I have to peek from under the headset and it is a pain.
