warthogmadman987 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Just checking, I am assuming that there will be a printable cockpit layout page? You know, how like in FC where we had a keyboard layout that would could print, well with a clickable cockpit it would also be nice to not only have a layout of the keyboard with shortcuts, but one also of the Ka-50 cockpit, with all the buttons and stuff labeled. Is there any chance we could see the pre-released like the manual is hoped, maybe even planned to be? 1
nscode Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 This would be really nice. Like the ones you see at class rooms :) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
CobraDriver Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Ya know that's an excellent idea. If the makers even made it available as a file, you could take it to a Kinkos. pay a couple bucks and have it printed from a plotter and make it actual size. 1 step further would be to get it laminated and now u got a training aid forever. That's what they do in flight school training facilities and it helps alot CD Pugnare Fornicare Au Mort
mvsgas Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 That does sound like a good Idea, great post warthogmadman987. Black Shark seem more like a second job every day, I have to learn so much... It's going to be great... like the cereal:D To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
halfpastseven Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 What would be most awesome was something like the Falcon 4 Pit Trainer. Getting comfortable with the pit offline, even on your bussines notebook..
Avimimus Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 If it is done I have a suggestion: The biggest problem is that if there was one print out for the entire cockpit it would both make the switches really really tiny and produce perspective problems. Instead, it would be better to have a print out of each different device. Halfpastseven is most likely right though: The best solution would be a pit trainer. Ideally there would be several different exercises (eg. two or three different tasks such as setting a waypoint, changing a waypoint) for each panel. One could go from system to system completing different exercises without even taking off. I found the Lomac training videos almost impossible due to the lack of interactivity and actually used the Flanker 2 flip book to learn most of the procedures. I've also found interactive training missions, in other sims, that could be "broken" by deviating slightly from the designers procedures or shut off too many systems frustrating. A non-interactive trainer would be alright if it consisted of smaller chunks (ie. watch the video take five steps, do the same five steps yourself, watch the next five steps, do the next five steps yourself, repeat etc.) Clearly this is one of the big challenges that ED faces.
SY_KO Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I asked this question a while ago but the thought kind of got shot down in flames.... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=29320 ~~~ Win7 64bit // i5 2500K @4.2Ghz // ASUS P8P67 Pro ~~~ ~~~ H50 Cooler // 12GB 1600 DDR3 // EVGA GTX580 SC ~~~ ~~~ TMW // Combat Pedals // TrackIR 4 ~~~
warthogmadman987 Posted May 30, 2008 Author Posted May 30, 2008 Well I guess either way whether ED comes out with it, or someone else, I am sure that I will use it when it comes...
Rhino4 Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 @ SY KO: Yeah I see what you mean about getting shot down. Everyone said you wouldn't need it. IMHO though, doing is better than seeing. Lots of people learn faster by doing something than by sitting down and watching a video or track. A ramp start trainer combined with a cockpit familiarization trainer either in-game or out would be an amazingly nice addition. The best way to implement something like this is to have a beginning load screen that asks you what you want to do. IE: ramp start; emergency procedures; fence-in/out checks; landing/takeoff checks; programming the different devices; customizing the abris; a general cockpit familiarization; ect. ect...Then the trainer would take you to a customized "track" that would have you perform the necessary steps in sequence one by one. After you've completed the training you can either replay the track, decide to try the track without the instruction (and be scored for accuracy and speed), pick a different track to train on, or quit to the main menu. In Lock-On this was not possible. In BS it might be possible but it depends on just how in-depth the triggers system is. For instance, can I have an event triggered when the player flicks a specific cockpit switch that will initiate a custom radio communication or in-game text? If so, then it should be relatively easy to build a mission tailored to specific types of training (ie: player loads game, is immediately given a text that says "click xyz switch"-player does so, the next radio communication comes up and gives instruction for the next action). Depending on the depth of the triggers system it may even be possible to assign a mission score to how fast the player completes the "mission" with or without instruction (ie: mission success requires 100 points. Mission completion points decrease for every extra 10 seconds that the player takes to complete the mission beyond a certain time limit). If not, then we're sh** outa luck as far as in-game options go. If that's so, then some talented person may wind up taking screenshots of the cockpit and writing a program much like falcon 4.0's related programs. Hopefully if they do, then they will include the options that I have mentioned. *hint hint*
